Suite Showcase no. 6 - Ready to Ride

Hi there and welcome back!
This week’s Suite Showcase focuses on Ready to Ride. I have to confess, I haven’t purchased the stamp and dies as I don’t feel that I would use them to their full advantage, however, I am going to show you what I’ve made using just the designer series paper (DSP). The DSP in this suite lends itself to both masculine and feminine cards.

For my first card here, on a Pumpkin Pie card base, I used the gas/petrol station scene from one of the DSP sheets that has a number of images on that can be cut down to create toppers. I simply layered it on some Basic Black. I used one of the other DSP sheets for the card base layer. I pulled out the Biggest Wish stamp set for a more masculine sentiment and stamped on Very Vanilla.

For the next card, I again used Pumpkin Pie for the card base, I mat and layered a piece of DSP that looks like metal on black. Then used 2 more of the ‘toppers’ from one of the DSP sheets – the rose and one of motorbikes. I pulled a sentiment from Simply Fabulous and stamped this on Soft Suede.

For my next card, I used Soft Suede as my card base and cut a matting layer also in Soft Suede. I embossed this piece using the Metal Plate 3d embossing folder from the suite and then using some more of the topper elements from the DSP sheet, I layered 3 of them up; then I fussy cut a bike from another sheet of DSP and adhered this to the card on dimensionals. I thought this would make a nice Father’s Day card, so I pulled the sentiment from Celebrating You. I black heat embossed the sentiment on Soft Suede.

Moving on to more feminine cards, I kept the same colour scheme as those in the DSP. I used a Basic Black card base with a layer of the checker board DSP. I embossed a piece of Pumpkin Pie using the Metal Plate 3d embossing folder but I blended some Pumpkin Pie around the edges to soften the colour a bit. I then cut a banner shape from the roses DSP. The sentiment came from the Favoured Flowers stamp set. This was white heat embossed on black. I finished all of the above cards off with some of the Adhesive Backed Studs.

For my most feminine card using the DSP, I used the roses DSP and adhered this at an angle on my Basic Black card base. I then cut a Basic Black layer to the same size as the card base. To make the valley in the middle, I then marked on the Basic Black layer, where the roses DSP came to and marked it. Then I cut from the top left corner to each of the marks using my paper trimmer. I then adhered a strip of Polished Pink cardstock to both black pieces, to give a flash of colour and trimmed the edges before adding both pieces to the Pretty Flowers embossing folder. I added these to the card base on black dimensionals. To finish the card, I stamped 3 of the smaller flowers from Fragrant Flowers stamp set. I added a pop of Polished Pink using my blends and Granny Apple Green for the leaves. I fussy cut these out as I didn’t want a white border around the edges of the flowers. The sentiment I pulled from the Simply Fabulous stamp set, which was white heat embossed on black and I finished the whole card off with some Polished Pink ribbon and some Iridescent Pastel Gems.

Suite Showcase no.5 - Fancy Flora

Hello and welcome back!

How are you? Can you believe that it's March already?? Roll on some nicer weather.

In this week's Suite Showcase, Alison and I are using the Fancy Flora Suite. I have to say, this is one of my favourites. The suite includes 2 stamp sets and 2 sets of dies. One stamp set is all floral images and the other is sentiments with accompanying label dies.

For my first card, I die cut the main background die that accompanies the Two Tone Flora stamp set. It really speaks for itself. I added a piece of designer series paper (DSP) behind it and kept it simple with a couple of flowers. I adhered it flat to my card base but varied the flowers using a combination of glue and dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I decided to stamp straight onto DSP for a bit of a change. The sentiment was cut out using a die from the label dies from the suite.

For my second card I used a Calypso Coral card base and stamped one of the detail flower stamps in Calypso Coral on the background so it was tone on tone.

I then selected another piece of DSP and layered it on Night of Navy and adhered together with liquid glue. Then I embossed this piece using Painted Texture embossing folder, which lends itself to the DSP really well as its a similar finish. I stuck this flat to my card base.

To complete the look I stamped a range of flowers in varying sizes in Calypso Coral and Orchid Oasis, I added some leaves in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. I added a white heat embossed sentiment on Night of Navy and fussy cut out. The sentiment was pulled from the Dainty Delights stamp set (not part of the suite). Then I completed the card with some embellishments, also found in the suite.

For my third and final card, I die cut the hexagon shape several times from DSP and adhered these using liquid glue to a Basic White base. I then embossed this using the Painted Textures folder and adhered this flat to a layer of Daffodil Delight. I felt the yellow just gave it all a lift. This was then added to an Orchid Oasis card base.

I die cut the largest label and added one of the detail dies. I stamped the sentiment to the right of the label in Orchid Oasis and then stamped some leaves to the left in Soft Succulent. I then layered some flowers in a combination of Daffodil Delight and Fresh Freesia.

I added some Pool Party ribbon to the card in a faux bow and adhered using some tear and tape. Then I added the sentiment on dimensionals on top of the ribbon and added the flowers around the sentiment. I finished off using some of the embellishments.

I love this suite and the DSP is gorgeous! I hope you like the cards, why not head over to Alison at The Inkspirational Crafter to see what she's been making with the suite.

Stamp Around UK March 2023 - Spring

Hello!

Welcome back to my blog. I'm taking part in Stamp Around UK's video hop today. These are monthly video hops that are released on the 1st of each month and there is a different theme for each. This month's theme is Spring.

I don't know about you, but when I think of Spring, I think of Easter. So how could I not use the cute new stamp set Easter Bunny for my video. This stamp set is available in the January-April 2023 mini catalogue and it comes with a punch. If you purchase it as a bundle, you get 10% off.

So I stamped the bunny and the easter eggs on a scrap piece of Basic White. For the bunny I used Gray Granite and Petal Pink (light and dark for both). And I used the outgoing In Colours for the easter eggs - Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya.

I went on to cut a matting layer in Basic White on which, I blended some Balmy Blue which would sit behind the bunny. I randomly stamped flowers from the Friendly Gnomes stamp set at the bottom of this matting layer and coloured in. To create the grass, I stamped tone on tone in Soft Succulent, the tiny grass stamp also from the Friendly Gnomes stamp set. I then fussy cut everything out.

For the bunny to sit in, I stamped and coloured the basket from the Cheerful Basket stamp set. Then I started building the card.

I hope you like the card and don't forget to visit the others in the hop to see their fabulous projects! See you next time.
