Fun layout for your scraps

Welcome back to my blog!

Isn’t it lovely to see the sun shining and all the spring plants coming into flower?

Today, I thought I would share what I created at a Stampin' Up! team evening last Friday. We got together over Zoom to have a crafting evening. We call them mystery stamping nights because all we get to know beforehand; is the supplies we’ll need. Then one of our team members talks us through the process to gradually reveal the cards or 3d project we’re making. Its such fun and there is always lots of laughs. This time it was a fun layout. Whilst it was simple, it was so effective!

We cut 1cm strips by 4 inches long, of designer series paper to place in the background – a great way to use up scraps! We then cut a layer of cardstock at a diagonal to lay on top of the designer series paper that you can decorate however you like.

I chose to use a range of products starting with our Whale of a Time suite. I just love this stamp set. It’s so fun and the papers are gorgeous.

Here I used Circle Celebration with night of navy, calypso coral and coastal cabana inks and Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper. I just love how bright the result is.

Then I decided to use our new Hey Birthday Chick. They just make me chuckle with all the possibilities you can make with them. Again, I used Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper but I also used our All Wired Up stamp set to stamp the layered corners. If you don’t like fussy cutting, don’t worry, there’s dies for the chicks! Its such a good value set and coordinates with the Hey Chick set.

Finally, I decided to try something simpler and stamped using Brushed Blooms on the layered corners and used Artistry Blooms Designer Series paper in the background. I love the ombre effect on the paper.

Have you got a favourite? Why don’t you have a go and share your makes with me, I’d love to see them!

Darling Donkeys

Hi there!

Happy Friday!! I hope you are all keeping well. Fingers crossed that Spring is on its way soon. There is only one week left in our Sale-A-Bration (SAB). You can earn free product for every £45 you spend. In this blog I’m sharing with you, a card I made using one of our free stamp sets, the Darling Donkeys. Aren't they cute!

During Sale-A-Bration you can also earn free papers. I’ve teamed the Darling Donkeys up with the free SAB papers called Flower and Field. The colours in the papers are so gorgeous. They are so bright & cheery and with the donkeys, they’re just so joyful.

I made this fun fold card using Just Jade cardstock as my base and cut a portion off the front which allows you to see the inside of the card. The little strip across tucks in under the Hee Haw sentiment to lock the card shut. The card is layered with basic white and bumblebee cardstock to keep it bright and cheery.

Please do share with me your makes, I’d love to see them!

Ice Cream Corner goodness

Hi there!

Welcome back to my blog. When it's cold and snowing, what's the best way to cheer yourself up...ice cream!

Today I'm showing you some cards I've made using the Ice cream Corner designer series paper and some Sale-A-Bration (SAB) papers. The best thing about the SAB papers, you can add them to your shopping basket free with every order over £45 until the end of February. So don't miss out!

I made standard size card blanks from A4 paper – 14.9cm x 10.5cm but you could make yours any size you like. On one card I made a base out of Crumb Cake cardstock and on the other I used Bermuda Bay. To add some dimension to the Bermuda card, I did a layer at 10.2cm x 14.5cm and embossed it using the Tasteful Textures embossing folder. This is one of my go to embossing folders. It’s so subtle and classy.

These cards were so fun to make and they're a great way of using scraps. I fussy cut some ice creams from a sheet of designer series paper but the ice cream builder punch makes life so much easier if you would prefer to stamp instead.

So, what’s your favourite ice cream flavour?

One Sheet Wonder Box and cards

Hi all,

How are you all doing in the current lockdown? Well I hope. My Auntie always asks me to make her greeting cards for her to give to friends and family and because she's on her own during lockdown, I decided to cheer her up by making a one sheet wonder (OSW) gift set of a box and cards. For those of you that don't know what a OSW is, it's where you take a sheet of card (either one you've stamped yourself or from a piece of patterned cardstock that you already have.

I decided I would stamp mine using the Pretty Perennials set from the current mini January to June 2021 catalogue. The great thing about stamping them, is each sheet comes out differently so they're always unique. I made two - one for the box and one for a set of 4 cards to include in the box. I picked bright and cheery colours.

To create the box

Using your chosen card base e.g. A4 sheet of cardstock that measures 21cm x 29.7cm. If you’re in the USA, I would suggest cutting a 12x12” sheet down to A4 size.

1. Stamp your images using your chosen stamp set and ink colours.

2. When you’ve completed stamping, score on all sides at 2.5cm.

3. Then fold one short edge to the score line on the opposite side.

4. Then repeat the process in the opposite direction. This will leave you with a spine the same width of the other score lines (2.5cm).

      5. Burnish all the score lines.

6. Cut the tabs and angle them slightly to allow for easy alignment as shown by the solid lines in the picture above.

7. When folded in half, on one end stick the tabs to the sides.

8. Then stick the middle tabs to the sides. This will make it look like a book.

9.Then stick the remaining tabs to the box.

Tip: I found the easiest way to line up the tabs and ensure a snug fit, was to close the box and then stick the remaining tabs into place.

My box fitted 4 notecard size very easily.

To create the cards

Using your chosen card base e.g. A4 sheet of cardstock, measuring 21cm x 29.7cm. If you’re in the USA, you could cut a 12x12” sheet down to A4 size, however, you could do the same technique with one sheet of 8.5” x 11” cardstock.

1. Stamp your images using your chosen stamp set and ink colours.

2. Then cut the sheet on the short side into two strips of 10.5cm as indicated by the dotted lines in the picture below.

3. Then cut your strips to 14.4cm. This will give you 4 card layers.

What do you think? I'd love to see what you create.

Hello and welcome!

Welcome to my blog Purrfectly Creative with Joanna. My name is Joanna and I’m an Independent Demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! I’ve been crafting for most of my life in the form of cross stitching, knitting and even making snowmen out of toilet rolls as a child with my dad. In the last 8 years I’ve really found a love of paper crafting. I’ve been making and selling cards that can be personalised; now I’d love to share my passion for card making and teach people how to make them for themselves.

As you may have guessed from my blog name, I’m a cat lover. I have had animals all of my life and I currently have two cats that I rescued. They’re very keen on helping me when I craft as you can imagine and they like to join in video calls as much as possible.

I joined Stampin’ Up! As a demonstrator in April 2020 as I love their paper crafting products as they all coordinate and allow you to free your creativity. Here are a few examples of some recent cards I’ve made using their products.

As you can see below, one of my cats taking an interest in my crafting.
