Suite Showcase no.19 - Them Bones

Hello and welcome back!

This month’s Suite Showcase is featuring Them Bones. I love Halloween, although I don’t normally make cards for the holiday, but with this suite, I just couldn’t resist!

As usual, I’ve kept my first card fairly simple. In this instance, I simply chose two of the card toppers featured on one of the sheets of DSP, trimmed to the size of a Basic Black matting layer. Before attaching the layer to the Basic Black card base using dimensionals.

From the Nested Essentials dies, I die cut Basic Black using the second smallest diamond shape die and the smallest from Gorgeous Grape and glued these together. I thought this looked a similar shape to a coffin. I added this on dimensionals over the join. I die cut a skeleton from the DSP (although you can stamp and die cut them) and added this to layers with a little bow. I finished the card with some adhesive backed sparkle gems and some of the brilliant glow in the dark embellishments from the suite.

For my second card, I made a Z-fold card from Basic Black and again, used one of the toppers from the sheet of DSP. Because I wanted to show off the DSP scene with all the tombstones, I decided to add a Basic White panel to the back of the card. For the front panel, I cut a Basic Black piece to approximately 2 7/8”/ 7.3cm by 3 ¾”/ 9.4cm. The cat topper piece I trimmed to approximately 3mm smaller on one long and one short side. To add some dimension to this, I die cut the boots and some grass from basic Black and laid them in front of the tombstone.

To complete the card, I black heat embossed the sentiment on Pumpkin Pie and punched out using one of the punches from the Inked and Tiled punch bundle. I added some black twine behind the sentiment and then went to town diecutting the moon, stars and bats from the Glow in the Dark paper from the suite. I also die cut a bow tie and added that to the cat – how cute is that?!

For my final card, I CASE’d (Copy And Share Everything) the catalogue for a recent video hop I took part in. You can see how I made the card here:

I white heat embossed the skeletons, arms, legs and cat on Basic Black. The skeletons were attached using black brads so the arms and legs can move. The scene was made from DSP, layered on Basic Black before it was added to a Gorgeous Grape card base. The tombstones were fussy cut from DSP but there are fantastic dies to do this.
