Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to the January Stamping INKspirations blog hop.

Today I am hopping with some of my talented stamping friends from around the world who love creating with Stampin' Up!® products as much as I do!  There are several of us hopping today and you will find the list to follow, towards the bottom of my blog post. Enjoy reading all the inspiration  with your favourite cuppa.

This month we are sharing projects based on our Sketch Challenge with Glimmer and Shine! I am sure that you will find lots of different interpretations and inspiration from everyone in the hop.

For my card, I took inspiration from our Delightful Floral Designer Series Paper (DSP). This is a selection of 12 x 12" papers and the colours are just so bright and happy. This sketch challenge is a great way to use up scraps too. For the glimmer element, I pulled out the gorgeous Three Color Glimmer 12 x 12" specialty paper. Both of these DSPs can be found in the Online Exclusives section.

My card base made from Berry Burst cardstock, measures 5 3/4" square. Then I added a matting layer from the Pretty Peacock glimmer paper measuring 5 1/2" square. I gutted the middle of the glimmer paper to save for later, leaving a 1/2" frame.  I cut two strips 1/2" thick of the same glimmer paper and adhered them to a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock (measuring 5 1/4" square), matching the layout of the sketch.

Then using my scraps of Delightful Floral DSP, I adhered 4 different designs on dimensionals keeping an even border in the middle to the Pretty Peacock layer. I trimmed each piece DSP to the edge of the layer. This gave dimension to the card and allowed the glimmer specialty paper to show through.

For my sentiment, I used 'Sending Thanks' from the new Stippled Roses stamp set. I white heat embossed this on Berry Burst cardstock and used the Heartfelt Hexagon to punch out. As you can see, the punch out is smaller than the original. I did this my punching the top and bottom halves separately. Then for some added dimension, I die cut the foliage from the Stippled Roses dies from Berry Burst and and the Pretty Peacock glimmer paper I gutted from the matting layer. I stuck the foliage to the back of them sentiment using tear and tape, then adhered it all to the card on dimensionsals.

For the inside of the card, I added a glimmer paper die cut to the Basic White cardstock layer. I didn't add another sentiment because I wanted to leave plenty of space for a note to the recipient of the card.

I hope that you have enjoyed this sketch and will use it yourself to create some cards - feel free to share your makes using it on my Facebook page. Up next on the blog hop is Judith, where you can continue along to see what she and all the others have created.  And should you be inspired, please leave me a comment... I love to hear from you!

  5. What a great idea to use metallic paper to underline the design paper by reversing the depth! Great idea!
